For this week’s historical highlights I found a variety of articles touching on everything from Matilda to Middle Earth to maps to mass graves.
First some bookish anniversaries: this year A Bear Called Paddington turns 60, Matilda turns 30, and The Hunger Games turns 10.
If you can’t make it to England to view the Bodleian’s Tolkien exhibit, at least you can read about it here. (“For fifteen years, [Catherine] McIlwaine has had the dream job for a Tolkien fan: Tolkien Archivist, charged with sorting through an archive of papers, manuscripts, artwork, letters, objects, and assorted ephemera related to the Oxford don and creator of arguably the most beloved fantasy series of all time.”)
