Historical Highlights 157

What are you up to this weekend? We hope to attend the local fall fair on Saturday. The kids are excited to ride in the parade and submit some cookies, crafts, and wildflower bouquets for judging. I hope the weather is decent. Meanwhile, rain or shine, you can enjoy these historical highlights (especially the first one!).

“How An FBI Sting Operation Helped NC Recover Its Copy Of The Bill Of Rights”

“Soldier’s remains interred more than 100 years after his death”

“From 1998: Aretha Franklin on life as the Queen of Soul”

“Slavery’s bitter roots: In 1619, ‘20 And odd Negroes’ arrived in Virginia”

“Glasgow University makes Gaelic audio archive freely available”

“New archiving platform to preserve Indigenous culture and language”

Did you read anything interesting this week?

P.S. Saturday, September 22 is Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day — get a ticket for free admission to participating museums.
