Today I’m sharing some creative writing for a change, two poems inspired by my baby’s bout of hiccups in the middle of the night.
Baby Hiccups
Cradled in my arms
Belly pressed against belly
Hiccups explode
Like kernels of popcorn
Yet you wait serenely
For the storm to pass
Limer-hic!
There once was a young boy named Zeke
Who had hiccups for more than a week
When he asked how to cure them
He was told to endure them
He replied, “But I feel like a freak!”
