Have you ever wondered by people in old movies and radio shows sound funny? It’s all due to the Transatlantic accent (also known as the Mid-Atlantic accent).
I was pleased to come across the following video last week. Not only did I learn something new, but I also thought of a way to incorporate it into my work-in-progress.
My villain is described as having a voice like an old radio personality and now I know enough to make the description more accurate and interesting.
I hope you enjoy this short, informative video.
If you have any favourite history-related videos or YouTube channels, I would love to hear recommendations!
P.S. Don’t forget to enter my first contest by guessing what’s in the mystery photos. There’s still time to win a prize!
I’ve always wondered about the accents in old movies! Very interesting.
So nice to find a little video that answers a pressing question!
I remember studying this as a linguistics student.
