I’ve been collecting words that are new to me, especially in books I’m reading (fiction, non-fiction, and even a picture book). I thought about listing them in a blog post, but it struck me that a quiz would be way more fun.
I had a great time creating it — it’s like playing Balderdash by yourself, so you can’t lose. I did share the fun a bit by enlisting the help of a my lovely friend Olivia for some of the questions.
I hope you have just as much fun completing the quiz as we did coming up with the “definitions.” Click on the button below and the quiz will appear in a pop-up.
Let’s see how your vocabulary compares to mine!
Feel free to share your score in the comments.
I got 10 right! This was so fun Margaret. 🙂
I got 45%. That was a really fun idea, and the quiz was hard!
Olivia, you helped make up some of the answers, so I don’t really know what to say to you about your 10 right! 😛
Olivia only saw some of the words and I didn’t let her see any of the answers, so she could give me her best unbiased fake definitions. 🙂
I got 35% and I’m with Emily on this one! 🙂
I loved this quiz, it really taxed my mind. There were 6 about which I had no idea at all and didn’t try to answer. Otherwise I got 13 right out of 20
Good job!
I would love to hear if you (or anyone else) have ideas for another quiz.
I’m very proud of myself for getting 17 right. Great quiz!
Very impressive!
I should have done better–got 65%
Don’t feel bad — I had to look all those words up in a dictionary. (But I must have done a good job writing tricky false definitions!)
A little tricky but a lot of fun. This is a great idea!
